Why radon is a Front Range problem

Radon is a decay product of uranium in the ground. The USGS has documented uranium deposits across the Colorado Front Range, the same bedrock the Colorado Springs area is built on and eroded from. The gas works its way up through soil and foundation cracks into homes.

That is the geology behind the numbers. Statewide, CDPHE reports about half of Colorado homes test above the action level. El Paso County runs higher still: it is EPA Radon Zone 1, and over 40% of homes tested here between 2005 and 2023 came back at or above 4.0 pCi/L.

Where we work

We cover Colorado Springs and the surrounding communities along this stretch of the Front Range. The radon source is the same across them, so the question is never whether a given town has radon. It is what your specific house reads.

If your address is nearby and not listed, (719) 992-5845 and ask. If we do not cover it, we will say so.
