A test is the only way to know
Radon has no smell and no color. Two houses on the same street can read very
differently. In El Paso County, over 40% of homes tested between 2005 and
2023 came back at or above the action level, so a test is worth doing before
you assume yours is fine.

Selling or buying a home in Colorado
Since August 2023, Colorado law (SB23-206) has required every home-sale contract to include a bold radon warning. Sellers must also hand over any prior radon test results and the current CDPHE radon brochure. A test on file answers the buyer's first question before they ask it.
Licensed measurement
Colorado licenses radon measurement on its own track, separate from mitigation. A commercial test in this state is supposed to be done under that license, following set placement and duration rules so the number holds up.
